Product Requirements

Ductless heat pump must be 17 SEER/16 SEER2 and 9.5 HSPF/8.1 HSPF2 or higher to qualify (equipment must be AHRI rated).

Ductless heat pump must replace existing natural gas wall furnace (AFUE 67% or less) and window AC (SEER 17 or less and EER 11 or less)

Cooling capacity of the installed equipment must be less than 65,000 btu/hr

Existing equipment must be removed and disposed rather than refurbished and sold.

Gas lines must be capped and photo provided

For cases where existing equipment was a wall furnace and a window ac: see attached screenshot from the measure checklist

If the base/existing equipment was a wall furnace only: the equipment must be fully decommissioned and disposed of.

The following is acceptable for validation:

Customer Attestation:

Confirms the attestation states the method of disposal for the base unit
If the base/existing equipment was a window AC and wall furnace: the equipment must fully decommissioned and disposed of. Also, the refrigerant must be handled in accordance with all state and local regulations, including but not limited to EPA regulations (40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F) under Section 608 of the Clear Air Act.

The following is acceptable for validation:

  • Contractor/Implementer/ Customer Attestation: Confirms the attestation states the method of disposal and refrigerant handling for the base unit

Customer Eligibility

Must be an SCE Customer
Must be located on the DAC/Low-income map (California Climate Investments Priority Populations Mapping Tool 4.0) and meet legend requirements:

  • Blue: Low-Income Community 
  • Yellow: Disadvantaged Community: CES 
  • Green: Disadvantaged Community: CES, Low-Income Community 

Dwelling must be single family or multi-family with four units per foundation or less. 

  • Independently metered 
  • In-unit appliances (not shared) -New construction is not -eligible. 

Incentive amount cannot exceed purchase price.
Use an SCE HPP Participating Contractor (Trade Ally) to perform upgrades and submit rebate application(s) on the homeowner's behalf.
Must NOT be in any state assistance programs

 

Other Requirements

Application must be submitted with 90 days of installation date.
Homes are eligible for one incentive per existing unit
All installed measures must follow current ETRM version guidelines in additional to SCE guidelines to qualify for rebates

 

Application must include a signed Customer Participation Agreement. 
Application must include a paid receipt or invoice with model number, manufacturer, purchase price and purchase date. 
Qualifying equipment must be new and replace existing equipment in a residence that currently receives residential electric service from Southern California Edison. 
Application must include a paid invoice or receipt with the model number, manufacturer, purchase price and purchase date. 
Application must be submitted with 90 days of installation date. -HPP Incentives are NOT eligible to stack with Golden State Rebates, Comfortably California Rebates, or other SCE electric utility programs. 
HPP incentives can be stacked with TECH/HEEHRA. 
Incentive amount cannot exceed purchase price and cannot exceed IMC cap from the measure package (eTRM) 
Fuel substitution incentives require that applications must include an itemized invoice of infrastructure upgrade costs if any of the following was completed: 
  • Site required electric infrastructure upgrade. 
  • Fuel substitution incentives require timestamped, geotagged photos of all equipment prior to installation, and post- installation. Including nameplates of existing and installed equipment. 
  • Efficiency qualifications are based on the combined equipment efficiency rating as determined by the Air Conditioning Heating & Refrigeration Institute. System components consist of an outdoor condensing unit, an indoor coil unit, and in some cases an air handler/furnace. Eligibility is determined by efficiency of combined components as applicable. For example, a condenser may have an "up to 15 SEER" rating, but when matched with a coil and furnace, the system may only reach 14.5 SEER as determined by AHRI.

  • HERS Report – Home Energy Rating System Report
  • AHRI Certificates – provide AHRI sheet for the combination of equipment installed (air handler+condenser+furnace), not 3 separate AHRI sheets
